CryoPen vs Thermavein: Choosing the Right Skin Lesion Removal at Skin Revision

Skin lesions—whether cosmetic or irritating—can affect your confidence and comfort. At Skin Revision in Beaconsfield, we offer two of the most advanced non-invasive lesion removal options: CryoPen and Thermavein. Both are precise, effective treatments, but each suits different types of concerns.

In this guide, we’ll help you understand how these technologies work, what conditions they treat, and how we help you decide which is right for your skin.

What Is CryoPen?

CryoPen is a precision medical cryotherapy tool that treats benign skin lesions using extremely cold nitrous oxide gas. This freezes the lesion without damaging surrounding tissue, causing the unwanted growth to naturally fall off over a few days.

It is particularly effective for:

  • Skin tags
  • Age spots
  • Pigmentation
  • Seborrheic keratosis
  • Warts
  • Verrucas
  • Sebaceous Cysts
  • Fibrous Paules

What Is Thermavein?

Thermavein uses thermocoagulation, a process that applies a very fine probe to heat and seal broken capillaries or blood vessels. It’s ideal for issues that involve redness or visible veins.

Thermavein is most effective for:

  • Thread veins (face and body)
  • Spider veins
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Milia
  • Skin tags (where suitable)

Frequently Asked Questions

Will CryoPen or Thermavein leave a scar?

Not usually. CryoPen may leave a slight pigment change, but risks are low. Thermavein does not break the skin, so scarring is unlikely. It is important to understand that for some skin tones (greater than Fitzpatrick 4) may leave some hyperpigmentation or small scar.

Is treatment painful?

Both treatments are well tolerated. CryoPen feels cold, Thermavein feels warm—no anaesthetic is needed.

How long do results last?

Once treated, most lesions do not return in the original area treated. However, new lesions may develop over time.

Can I have multiple lesions treated in one session?

Yes, we often treat several areas during one visit. Pricing is based on time and number of lesions. However, there is a limit to how many lesions can be treated during one appointment. The body will reject the healing process if too many lesions are treated. At Skin Revision, we would normally allow just 15 minutes maximum.

What’s the cost?

Prices vary by lesion and time needed—please book a consultation for an accurate quote. A photo on WhatsApp is normally suffice to give an indicative cost.
