Fibrous Papule
At Skin Revision, we can offer Plaxel Plasma as an advanced treatment for fibrous papule removal treatment. The treatment is quick with minimal discomfort and a relatively short downtime. Here’s how the treatment works:
Consultation: The treatment process begins with a thorough consultation, initially over the phone. WhatsApp is often used for us to view any photos and determine if the lesion is a fibrous papule. If we determine that the lesion is a fibrous papule, then we will discuss the treatment process and give an indication of the cost to treat.
Plaxel Plasma: Plasma is heat cauterisation, and we believe it is the most successful treatment to remove fibrous papules. The “true and real” plasma nullifies the skin cells within the lesion, causing them to shrink and die off.
These benign, harmless fibrous papule lesions can be confused with sebaceous hyperplasia or cysts and usually develop in early adulthood but tend to remain stable over time.

What Causes Fibrous Papules?
Fibrous papules are caused by a localised overgrowth of fibrous tissue and blood vessels within the skin. They are not related to sun damage, hormonal changes, or infection and are not contagious.

Common Characteristics
Are Fibrous Papules Dangerous?
No — fibrous papules are completely benign (non-cancerous). However, for some, their appearance is unsightly, and so they reach out to professional clinics such as Skin Revision for the recommended non-surgical treatment and removal of the fibrous papules.

From £95
Is Treatment Permanent?
Yes — once removed, fibrous papules do not usually return in the same spot. However, new lesions may occasionally develop elsewhere over time, particularly in individuals prone to developing them.
How Long Is the Recovery?
Most patients experience mild redness or a small scab at the site for a few days following treatment. Complete healing usually occurs within 7–14 days, with minimal risk of scarring when treated professionally. Always adhere to the aftercare instructions given before and after the treatment for the fibrous papules.
Do I Need a Consultation?
For fibrous papules, we typically offer an initial phone consultation to assess suitability for treatment. You may be asked to send a clear photo for review. Face-to-face consultations are available if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Medical grade "true" Plaxel Plasma is used to treat any fibrous papules. Plaxel Plasma avoids incisions or sutures, making it a less risky treatment for lesions than anything more invasive. It is proven at Skin Revision to be the most effective treatment for fibrous papules. It also has minimal downtime compared to surgery. The Plasma device generates plasma (ionised gas), which, when brought close to the skin, creates a controlled micro-injury. The trauma to the skin caused the cells supplying blood to the fibrous papule, to diminish and vanish.
Up to 1-3 treatments may be needed. The number of treatments depends on a) the patient's body's natural ability to break down the waste created following treatment and b) the size, the age of the lesion and the skin type.
Fibrous Papule treatments and removal are carried out at Skin Revision. The clinic is based in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire.
The price or cost of a fibrous papule treatment will depend on the number of fibrous papules and their sizes. Prices start from around £95. This includes a full consultation.
Fibrous papules are usually dome-shaped, firm, and are the same colour as your skin. They can sometimes be reddish or pale. They are made up of a mix of fibrous tissue and blood vessels.
We believe that a fibrous papule is the result of an overgrowth of certain cells in the skin.
Possibly fibrous papules are caused by a localised overgrowth of blood vessels, collagen, and fibroblast cells, which are responsible for producing the structural proteins of the skin. This leads to the small, firm bump characteristic of a fibrous papule.
It is not possible to prevent fibrous papules from growing and showing on the skin.
We believe that they are not caused by lifestyle factors like poor hygiene, diet, or sun exposure.
As they are not caused by external factors, there are no known preventative measures you can take to stop them from appearing.
With plasma, there is a very limited chance of scarring. Skin Revision offers no guarantees however. Should a small scar appear in the months following treatment, it is likely to disappear over time due to the new cell regeneration. Your consultation will determine whether it is safe for your skin type and skin tone to have treatment for the fibrous papules.
Fibrous papules do not generally go away without the prescribed treatment. Instead, they may stay the same size or get bigger. The best way would be for the safe non-surgical treatment method offered by us at Skin Revision in Beaconsfield.
