Jet Plasma Treatment Aftercare: What to Expect Day by Day

One of the most common questions after a plasma skin treatment is simple: “What is my skin supposed to look like now?”

That question is especially understandable when you have been told that plasma can support skin tightening, rejuvenation or skin renewal. The recovery experience can vary quite a lot, though, because not every treatment described as “Jet Plasma” uses the same technology or creates the same response in the skin.

Some cold-plasma treatments are designed with little or no downtime. Plasma pen or fibroblast procedures, on the other hand, can create visible crusting and scabbing as the skin heals. So before comparing your skin with photographs online, find out exactly which plasma treatment you have had.

This guide explains the common jet plasma aftercare, what aftercare usually involves, how plasma pen recovery differs, and when you should contact your practitioner.

How Does Jet Plasma Affect Your Skin?

Plasma is an electrically energised state of gas. In aesthetic treatments, different devices use plasma in different ways, so the effect on the skin depends on the technology and treatment protocol being used.

Some non-invasive cold-plasma treatments are designed to work at the skin’s surface without intentionally creating the controlled micro-injury associated with plasma pen treatments. Others, such as plasma pen or fibroblast procedures, use a controlled arc to create tiny treatment points on the skin. Those points can then form small carbon crusts or scabs during healing.

That’s why you may find two completely different answers when searching for plasma pen healing time or Jet Plasma recovery.

The safest approach is to treat your practitioner’s aftercare instructions as the main source of advice. The treatment area, intensity, your skin type and the specific device used can all affect how your skin behaves afterwards.

Jet Plasma Healing Stages: What Happens Next?

Jet plasma healing stages: what happens next

There isn’t one universal day-by-day recovery timetable for every plasma treatment. However, understanding the usual stages can make the process feel much less mysterious.

The First 24–48 Hours

Depending on the type of plasma treatment, your skin may feel warm, tight, tender or slightly swollen.

With plasma pen treatment, mild swelling is particularly common during the first few days, while the skin can feel similar to mild sunburn during the first 24 to 48 hours. For a non-invasive cold-plasma treatment, the visible recovery may be much less noticeable.

Either way, this isn’t the time to start experimenting with new skincare. Keep your routine simple and follow the instructions provided by the practitioner who treated you.

Days 3–5

If you have had a plasma pen or fibroblast procedure, this is often when the treated area looks most obviously “treated”.

The skin may feel tight or itchy, and small crusts can become more noticeable. These are part of the healing process. PlasmaPen’s published aftercare guidance states that swelling gene

rally reduces during the first few days and that itching or tightness can occur before the crusts begin to shed. This is also the point where patience m

atters most.

Do not pick, scratch or pull at healing crusts. Let them come away naturally. Removing them prematurely can interfere with healing and increase the risk of unwanted marks, infection or scarring.

Days 6–10

For plasma pen treatment, crusts can begin to lift and shed naturally during this period. PlasmaPen advises allowing this process to happen without picking at the area; its guidance states that the scabbing process can continue for several days and that normal skincare and activity can generally resume around day ten, subject to the practitioner’s advice.

The skin underneath may look pinker than usual. Don’t be tempted to scrub away remaining flakes or use strong exfoliants to speed things up. Healing skin needs time.

For other forms of Jet Plasma, this stage may be far less visible. You may simply notice gradual changes in texture, tone or overall skin quality rather than obvious crusting.

Days 10–14

By this point, many people who have undergone plasma pen treatment have moved beyond the visible scabbing stage. That does not necessarily mean the skin has finished healing.

Newly healed skin can remain pink or sensitive for longer, and you should continue following your practitioner’s advice around sun protection and skincare. PlasmaPen notes that treated areas can remain pink for two to four weeks, even after the crusting has settled.

Weeks 3–6 and Beyond

This is when the more gradual side of the jet plasma results timeline becomes relevant.

The skin may continue to change after the obvious signs of treatment have disappeared. Depending on the procedure, treatment area and skin concern, improvements in texture, firmness and overall appearance may develop over several weeks.

Don’t worry if your final result isn’t obvious immediately. Healing and skin remodelling are processes, not overnight events.

Jet Plasma Aftercare: What Should You Do?

Jet Plasma aftercare tips for healthy skin recovery
Key jet plasma aftercare steps, including keeping the treated area clean, protecting the skin from sun exposure, following practitioner advice and allowing the skin time to heal.

Good aftercare is less about doing lots of things and more about not getting in the way of the healing process.

Do

  • Follow the specific aftercare instructions given by your practitioner.
  • Keep the treated area clean according to their guidance.
  • Use any recommended aftercare products as directed.
  • Protect the area from unnecessary sun exposure.
  • Use SPF when your practitioner advises that it is appropriate.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Give your skin time to settle before returning to your usual active skincare routine.
  • Contact your clinic when you are unsure about something.

Don’t

  • Pick or scratch scabs.
  • Peel away crusts before they naturally shed.
  • Scrub or exfoliate healing skin.
  • Introduce strong acids, retinoids or other active products without guidance.
  • Use heavily fragranced products on freshly treated skin unless advised.
  • Exercise, swim or use hot tubs during the restricted recovery period set by your practitioner.
  • Copy another clinic’s aftercare instructions without checking that they apply to your specific treatment.

PlasmaPen’s published guidance, for example, recommends avoiding swimming, hot tubs and excessive sweating until redness and discomfort have settled, while also advising against picking or removing scabs.

What About Plasma Pen Scabs?

Plasma pen scabs during the skin healing process
Plasma pen scabs can form as part of the skin’s natural healing process after treatment and should be allowed to shed naturally without picking or scratching.

If you’ve searched for plasma pen scabs, you’ve probably seen photographs of tiny brown or dark crusts across the treated area. These can be a normal part of plasma pen healing.

The treatment creates controlled points on the skin, which then heal and shed naturally. Scabbing can begin to shed around day five and continue for several days. It can look more dramatic than you expected, particularly if you have not experienced this type of treatment before.

Try not to judge the final result while the skin is still healing. And don’t remove the crusts yourself.

The important distinction is that not every Jet Plasma treatment produces plasma pen scabs. A non-invasive cold-plasma treatment can have a very different recovery profile, so the presence or absence of crusting depends on the technology used.

How Long Is Plasma Pen Recovery?

There is no single plasma pen recovery time that applies to everyone.

As a general guide, the most noticeable swelling and discomfort can occur during the first few days. Scabs may then begin to shed from around day five, with the visible crusting phase continuing for several days. Pinkness can remain for a few weeks after the surface has healed. The full results of its treatment may be visible by around eight weeks.

Your recovery can differ depending on the treatment area, intensity, individual healing response and whether you have had a plasma pen procedure or another type of plasma treatment.

So rather than asking, “Am I healed on day seven?”, ask whether your skin is progressing normally for the treatment you’ve had.

When Will You See Jet Plasma Results?

The answer depends on what was treated. Some people notice an early change in the appearance or feel of their skin. Other results take longer to develop.

For treatments intended to support skin tightening or rejuvenation, improvements may continue as the skin remodels. A broader change in skin quality can therefore take several weeks rather than appearing immediately.

If you’ve had a lesion or localised concern treated, the visible change may be easier to notice sooner. For more gradual improvements in texture or firmness, you’ll generally need more patience.

Your practitioner should explain the expected jet plasma results timeline during your consultation, including whether you are likely to need a series of treatments.

When Should You Contact Your Practitioner?

Some discomfort, redness, swelling or itching can occur after certain plasma treatments. What matters is how the area is behaving overall and whether it is moving in the expected direction.

Contact your practitioner if you experience:

  • Pain that is severe, worsening or unexpected
  • Increasing swelling
  • Significant heat or redness that is spreading
  • Pus or other signs of infection
  • A reaction that concerns you
  • Healing that appears to be getting worse rather than better

You don’t need to diagnose the problem yourself. Your practitioner knows which device was used, what settings were applied and what your skin looked like before treatment. They are therefore best placed to tell you whether what you’re experiencing is expected.

The Best Aftercare Is Patient Aftercare

It can be tempting to look for a way to speed everything up once you’ve had a skin treatment. In most cases, the better approach is simpler: follow the instructions, protect your skin, and give it time.

If you’ve had a plasma pen treatment, don’t pick at crusts simply because they look ready to come away. If you’ve had a non-invasive cold-plasma treatment, don’t assume that a dramatic scabbing stage is something you should expect.

And if your recovery doesn’t look or feel right, ask your practitioner rather than relying on a generic internet timeline.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Jet Plasma take to heal?

It depends on the type of treatment. Some cold-plasma treatments have little downtime, while plasma pen treatments can involve several days of crusting followed by weeks of gradual colour and texture changes.

This varies by treatment and device. PlasmaPen advises that minimal makeup can be introduced from around day five, but your own practitioner’s instructions should take priority.

Yes. Small dark crusts can form after plasma pen treatment as the skin heals. They should be allowed to shed naturally rather than being picked or pulled away.

Your practitioner may advise avoiding exercise and heavy sweating for a short period, particularly after plasma pen treatment. Follow the restrictions given for your specific procedure.

Some changes may appear relatively early, while improvements in texture, firmness and overall skin quality can continue to develop over several weeks. Your practitioner can give you a more specific expectation for your treatment.
