Skin Peels

Skin Peels – Beaconsfield

Skin Peels, sometimes known as Chemical Peels or Fruit Peels can be used for a variety of skin issues at the skin clinic. As your Skin Revisionist, I would consider them at our skin consultation (Beaconsfield clinic), to treat ageing skin, reduced pore size, age spots, dull skin, hyperpigmentation, dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles, and mild acne scars.

Skin Peel treatments I would use, would normally be a Bio-RePeel or PRX. End result:  Your fresh new skin would be younger and glowing due to the inclusion of:

  • Salicylic acid, which helps accelerate the everyday effect of skin exfoliation. It is a natural harmless acid that derives from the bark of Wintergreen and White Willow plants.
  • Lactic acid, is an exfoliant that comes from lactose fermentation (a natural carbohydrate found in milk)
  • Glycolic acid, reverses sun damage and smooths out mild acne scars.

BioRePeel

BioRePeel is a progressive 2-phase skin peel treatment. The treatment creates a peel-like effect that bio-stimulates and revitalises the skin. The peel produces mild exfoliation which stimulates the skin and restores its structure. The treatment is perfect for light, pigmentation, acne scars, and preventing skin ageing.

The treatment is suitable for all skin types, including Asian, black skin, and skin of colour. Skin conditions it can treat include acne, fresh acne scarring, blackheads, slightly sagging skin and fine lines.

The innovators of Bio Re-Peel had to say this – “The Bio rePeel allows collagen to build, reduce fine lines, increase the skin’s glow, deep clean pores, fade dark spots, and reduce scars and redness. It is one of the most “one-fits-all facial” treatments available.”

What is a Bio RePeel and how will it help me?

This unique formula within the Bio Repeel removes the blocked pores and deep blackheads that cannot be penetrated through regular facial treatments. Although classified as a skin peel, the BioRePeel”s antibacterial effect is our preferred choice at Skin Revision. However, it is not for everybody and your consultation will determine if a Bio Reel is suitable for your skin and if it will bring the best results.
So, a Bio RePeel is wonderful for certain skin types that have congested pores or blackheads. It is also considered if you are suffering from acne scar complications associated with acne.

Why is a Bio Repeel different from a conventional Skin Peel?

Bio Repeel Cl3 is a deep TCA peel that penetrates through the top five layers of the epidermis to the uppermost layers of the dermis. This being the case, it does not have the same harsher side-effects.

How often should I have a BioRePeel?

Ideally, every 7-10 days for 3 – 6 treatments. The amount of Bio RePeel sessions you have will depend on your skin consultation with us and also how your skin is reacting to the previous treatments. The quicker the results, the less treatments we will prescribe.
For best results, we recommend a treatment every 7-10 days for 3 to 6 sessions.
Some clients will be offered a Bio RePeel alongside a treatment such as Plaxel Plasma, if we feel the skin would benefit.

Do Chemical Peels make your skin red or peel?

Some redness will occur following your skin peel or chemical peel. You may also experience some swelling, slight stinging and flaking of your skin. Any swelling may last for 48 hours.
It is no unusual for a small blister to appear in some areas. These blisters may break open. It is likely that the skin will crust and flake within 14 days and peel off the face.

What are the best types of Skin Peels for my skin concerns?

The type of Skin Peel prescribed during your consultation will depend on your individual skin concerns and the results you are looking to achieve. Here are the most common skin concerns and the types of peels that would generally be recommended:

Acne: Salicylic acid peels are generally the go to choice for acne-prone skin. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that penetrates deep into pores to unclog them and reduce inflammation.
Hyperpigmentation: For concerns like sun spots, melasma, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, peels containing ingredients like kojic acid, glycolic acid, or lactic acid can work wonders. These peels work to lighten dark spots and even out skin tone.
Anti-ageing: If you’re looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, peels containing alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) like glycolic acid or lactic acid can be hugely beneficial. These anti-ageing peels stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture.
Overall skin rejuvenation: For a general improvement in skin tone and texture, peels like glycolic acid peels or lactic acid peels would be recommended by Skin Revision. These peels exfoliate the skin’s surface and leave a brighter / smoother skin.

Can Skin Peels be used on all types of skin types and skin tones?

Skin Peels are not suitable for everyone. Here are some things to consider:

Skin Type:
Oily skin: Peels with salicylic acid can help control oil production and unclog pores.
Dry skin: Lactic acid peels can be gentle and hydrating.
Sensitive skin: Mild peels with ingredients like mandelic acid may be suitable, but it’s crucial to proceed with caution. Speak to an advanced skin therapist such as Jacqui at Skin Revision
Skin Tone:
Lighter skin tones: Generally have a wider range of peel options.
Darker skin tones and Indian Skin: These skin tones are at a higher risk for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) after skin peels. It’s crucial to choose peels with lower concentrations of acids and work with a professional experienced in treating darker skin tones.  Speak to an advanced skin therapist such as Jacqui at Skin Revision.
Skin Conditions:
Active acne: Some peels can help improve acne, but others might irritate it. Speak to an advanced skin therapist such as Jacqui at Skin Revision
Rosacea: Peels are generally not recommended for rosacea-prone skin.
Eczema or psoriasis: Avoid peels during flare-ups.

Can I have Skin Peels if I am pregnant, breastfeeding or on medication?

This conditions will apply:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Certain peel ingredients may not be safe.
Medications: Some medications can increase skin sensitivity.

Always speak to your doctor or an advanced skin therapist if you are unsure, or have any further questions, on whether a skin peel or chemical peel, is right for your skin.
