How long before the Mole is gone ? 

The time taken for the mole and the blemish left on the skin will depend on a number of factors. This may include the age of the mole, the age of the patient, the size of the mole and the patient’s body’s ability to break down the mole following treatment.

Does the Mole treatment hurt?

With any of the three possible procedures that Jacqui would carry out at the clinic, there is just minimal discomfort over a very short period of time. A numbing cream maybe applied especially on more sensitive areas such as the scalp or around the eyes. You will be able to leave the skin clinic immediately but must adhere to the strict homecare advice given, in order to protect your skin treatment area.

Following your Mole treatment, you may experience.

• A slight reddening and / or swelling on the skin in the treated area
• You may find the treated area warm.
• It is common for the moles to drop off on their own accord over a period of weeks. 
• Any visible reddish mark left will disappear to become your own skin colour.
• Itchiness may occur in the area treated for a few days.
• Do not touch the treated area until completely healed.
• Keep the area dry and avoid steam rooms, saunas, swimming, exfoliation or scrubs.
• Avoid sun exposure on the treated area. Use minimum SPF30 all year round on the treated area until healed.
• Do not use scented perfumes, scented soap or scented deodorants on / around the treated area until healed.

How old do you have to be to have a mole removed? – It is possible to treat minors (those who are15 years of age or over ), to have their moles removed. Those who are 15 – 18 years of age will need to be with their parent or guardian. The parent or guardian will need to be present and sign the necessary consent form.

Depending on the amount of moles or the size of the moles, it should take between 1 to 3 treatments for the total removal of any mole. Generally speaking, one small mole or a number of small moles should only take one treatment. Your initial mole assessment will give you realistic expectations of the time frame expected for the total removal of the moles.

The number of moles on your body and face can increase over time. It is also possible that moles can increase in size over many years. They may begin to grow little strands of hair and it is not uncommon for moles to change shape, become more raised, or be darker / lighter in colour. It is very important for you or someone you know well to check for new moles and see any changes in the appearance of existing moles. If you are at all unsure or have any questions, you must speak to your GP or dermatologist as soon as possible.

There is minimal discomfort when treating moles on the face, scalp or body. We would however offer a local anaesthetic cream to numb any mole to be treated on sensitive areas such as the scalp or around the eyes. Depending on the area being treated, will depend on the amount of discomfort.

After 24 hours, you can wash your face or body normally with a mild unperfumed face wash. However, we would advise to avoid the treated area and to make sure it is kept dry for a number of days. Excessive cardio should be avoided for the first 24 hours. It is extremely important to follow the homecare advice given after your mole removal treatment.

It is no longer possible for GPs to remove moles within their practice. We can treat all moles providing they have been cleared to treat by our dermatologists. Results tend to take 24 – 48 hours, following examination from ourselves.

No. This is a non-surgical procedure that is safe and quick. There are no incisions made and no stitches are required. Providing that you have followed the advice given, you will be left blemish-free.

Mole removal is requested by both minors, teenagers, men and women who are concerned about one or more moles on their body or face. Moles for example can become irritated if constantly rubbed by clothes or caught when shaving. It is a cosmetic procedure now in the UK and many people look to have moles removed as they find them unsightly or lower their self-esteem.

The price for mole removal starts from around £95.
For small benign flat moles the cost will be approx £95. For larger moles that are treatable by Skin Revision the cost is from £95 and could be as much as £150 – £195 for example.
However, a full understanding of the costs will be given during your mole assessment, often over the phone and with the help of photos, and before any commitment by you to go ahead with treatment.

It is highly unlikely that the moles will grow back in the same place after treatment. The treated area will become clear and free of any marks if the advice given for homecare is adhered to. However, new moles can develop at any stage and on any area of the face or body, particularly as you age.
