After-effects following treatment

Following the CryoPen treatment, some redness, mild swelling, or a slight stinging sensation may occur temporarily. However, these effects typically subside within a few days as the skin heals.

Results and complete disappearance

During the treatment, a mild white frost should form evenly over the lesion followed by a white raised blister.

Immediately after the treatment, the tissue turns red-ish coloured due to interstitial bleeding.

The time taken for the Xanthelasma to disappear entirely varies. In most cases, noticeable improvements can be seen within just a few weeks after the CryoPen treatment. However, it may be necessary for at least one additional treatment, in order to see a complete disappearance.

Who is likely to get Xanthelasma?

Xanthelasma can occur in anyone, but certain factors can increase the likelihood of its development. Individuals with higher levels of cholesterol, particularly LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, are more prone to Xanthelasma. Additionally, those with conditions like familial hypercholesterolemia or genetic predispositions to high cholesterol levels might be at an increased risk.

Medical grade CryoPen is used. The cryotherapy device releases medical nitrous oxide at minus 89 degrees into the targeted tissue within the Xanthelasma. This process freezes the inter-cellular fluid. Ice shards and crystals are formed which rupture the membrane of the Xanthelasma. The cells are then destroyed, causing the lesion to die.

It is recommended that up to 3 treatments are needed. However, in some cases the body acts very effectively post treatment and as such, only the one treatment is needed.

Of course at minus 89 degrees an intense cold sensation will be felt on the lesion itself, but the precise nature and accuracy of the device means that very minimal sensation is felt outside the treated area. Any discomfort will disappear within a few seconds after treatment.

Xanthelasma is a harmless, yellow growth. Formed by Cholesterol deposits building up under the skin and raising to the skin’s surface. It is generally very small in appearance and most commonly appears around the corners of the eyes, nearest the nose. They build up under your skin to form a Xanthelasma.

You can do this by eating more vegetables and less foods that are fatty of the wrong type of food fats.
Also by exercising more or taking prescribed supplements from your doctor to lower cholestrol.
