Syringoma

CryoPen for the treatment and removal of Dermatofibromas

Syringoma

At Skin Revision we offer advanced medical-grade treatment options for Syringoma. CryoPen and VeinAway are cutting-edge devices that effectively remove Syringomas with minimal discomfort and downtime. Here’s how the treatment works:

  1. Consultation: An initial consultation is made over the phone and with the help of a supplied photo by the client. This allows us to assess the Syringomas and determine if CryoPen or VeinAway are the correct treatments for you.
  2. Cryotherapy: The CryoPen device is used to apply a precise, controlled amount of extreme cold (-89 degress nitrous oxide) to the Syringoma. The cold temperature freezes and destroys the abnormal tissue with minimal discomfort.
  3. VeinAway: VeinAway is a heat cauterisation process that uses Thermocoagulation to nullify the blood supply and cells keeping the lesion alive.
  4. Procedure Duration: The treatment typically takes only a few minutes per lesion.
  5. Post-Treatment: After the procedure, the treated area may appear slightly red and swollen.

What is Syringoma?

Syringoma is a benign / harmless skin growth originating from the eccrine sweat glands, which are responsible for producing sweat. These small, firm bumps typically appear on the lower eyelids, upper cheeks, and sometimes on the chest, abdomen, or genital area. Syringomas are usually skin-colored or yellowish and can be mistaken for other skin conditions such as milia or xanthelasma.

Why is Syringoma formed?

Several factors are believed to contribute to the formation of Syringoma:

  1. Genetic predisposition: There is often a genetic component, with syringomas running in families.
  2. Hormonal changes: Hormonal fluctuations, particularly during puberty or pregnancy.
  3. Underlying health conditions: Certain health conditions, such as Down Syndrome or Diabetes.
  4. Skin type: Syringomas are more common in people with lighter skin tones.

Aftercare for Syringoma treatment

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure the best results and to minimise the risk of complications following CryoPen treatment for Syringoma. Here are the key aftercare steps:

  1. Keep the area clean and dry: For the first few days after treatment, keep the treated area clean and dry to prevent infection.
  2. Avoid picking or scratching: Do not pick or scratch the treated area, as this can interfere with the healing process and increase the risk of scarring.
  3. Use antiseptic cream: We may recommend applying an antiseptic cream to the treated area to promote healing and prevent infection.
  4. Protect from sun exposure: Protect the treated area from sun exposure by using a high-SPF sunscreen or covering the area with clothing. Sun exposure can cause pigmentation changes and delay healing.
  5. Monitor Healing: Keep an eye on the treated area for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or pus. If you notice any concerning symptoms, contact us immediately.
